Prodromos Thanasoglou was born in Istanbul to parents from Asia Minor. He studied at the Galata Urban School and graduated with honors from the Hellenic French High School (1933). His student life began at the University of Istanbul in the Department of Chemistry and continued at the University of Athens at the School of Chemistry, from where he graduated in 1939. After his military service he specialized in Biochemistry at the Institute of Biochemistry of the University of Istanbul. During his specialty he published in English the work "On antibodies and proteins". He worked from 1945 to 1995 in his own Chemical and Industrial Laboratory and at the same time served as director of the Biochemical and Microbiological Laboratory of the Italian Hospital of Istanbul. He served as curator of the medical committee of the National Charitable Branches of Valoukli Hospitals from 1950 to 1990.
