'The Manuring of Coffee, Cocoa, Tea and Tobacco' is the third in a series of books published by the Centre d'Etude de l'Azote on problems of soil fertility and the use of fertilizers on the more important world crops. The Centre d'Etude de l'Azote was founded in 1953 by nitrogen manufacturers of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
This book briefly reviews the main historical, ecological, and economic features of each of the crops dealt with. It further summarizes the principal aspects of nutrition and brings together the results of fertilizer experiments carried out in many countries. The author has attempted to give the background to fertilizer problems in relation to soils, local conditions, methods of cultivation and density of shade.
