Açıklama
Fitzgibbon worked for Nomura Securities in New York from 1970 until 1977. This book is his account of "what it is like to be an American in a Japanese company." More than just cultural differences separated him from his Japanese employers, as Nomura engaged in many questionable, even illegal practices. When he left Nomura, he attempted to contact American regulators, but sadly no one seemed interested in learning the truth. While insightful about Nomura, Fitzgibbon's book is not as thorough as A. Alletzhauser's The House of Nomura ( LJ 4/1/90); interested readers will find more to chew on in that work. Still, given the current financial scandals plaguing the Japanese powerhouse and the concern over Japanese global economic intentions, there is an undeniable timeliness to Deceitful Practices. -
