Civil initiatives and civil organizations constitute a powerful social capital in many countries. Based on an extensive research about Turkish civil society organizations in Holland, this book provides timely and well informed analysis to policy makers, polticians and the public on the transformative role of civil actors in modern society. Drawing upon the Dutch case study, this book addresses the question of how and in what capacity Turkish civil society organisations constitute a social capital and social network on the one hand and how such formations influence Turkey-EU relations.
Findings in this book indicate that an overwhelming majority of Turkish civil organization in Holland support Turkey's EU membership process and beleive that the membership will benefit both sides.
