This exhibition catalog by the Bata Shoe Museum of Toronto presents more than 125 color reproductions of opulent shoes, anklets, and toe rings, made of materials ranging from vegetable fibers and wood to silver and gold. In the text, Jutta Jain-Neubauer discusses the erotic and religious context of the foot in Indian culture, as well as the processes that Indian artisans have used to make shoes through the centuries.
