Today there are so many interesting gear arrangements, gear systems, and gear mechanisms, many of which are little known to designers, that there is compelling need for a compilation of such material.
The information in this book is drawn largely from Product Engineering material written by over ninety leading gear experts. It has been compiled and integrated to serve two functions: to describe and illustrate as many unusual, yet practical, gear systems and mechanisms as possible, and to provide short-cut techniques and formulas for simplifying the design of both standard and nonstandard gear systems. Much of the material cannot be found elsewhere.
