1966. First edition in English. 204pp. Cesare Pavese (1908-1950) was an Italian novelist, poet, short story writer, translator, literary critic, and essayist. He is seen by many as one of the most influential Italian writers of his time. This collection of twelve stories has been selected from manuscripts found among Pavese's papers after his death. A few has appeared in his volume of stories, Feria d'Agosto, but the majority were unknown to the public until they appeared posthumously in 1960.
