He took the pseudonym of Collodi from the village of Collodi where his beloved mother was born. In 1881 Collodi was in urgent need of money, and his Pinocchio was born out of inspiration and necessity. The characters of Pinocchio are vivid and remain with us for a long time. Pinocchio comprises of a web of metaphors about the conditions of man. It depicts class struggles, social injustice and also shows the contrast between the rich and poor.In 1940, Walt Disney adapted Pinocchio.
