There were rumours of enemies: of poison and assassination. Rumours which, fifty years later, cause Jason Otis, a young American musician and composer, and his bride, to investigate the circumstances of Mozart's death and funeral.
The search takes them to New York, London, Salzburg and a forbidding police state - Vienna. It involved Beethoven and Schubert, the Emperor, Prince Metternich, the women in Mozart's life, and Salieri - the Imperial Kapellmeister, and the composer's bitterest enemy.
